The position control works well raising and lowering fully, but this only happens in the top 1/2 of the quadrant range. For ticklish operation like blading snow without lifting the gravel beneath (and for my own A/R reasons) I'd like it to work through the whole quadrant range. I've read the I&T manual and Big Dean's disc about adjustments as well as the archives but I'm not sure that this adjustment by removing the lift cover will fix my problem. I've been inside lift covers on old Fords (8N and NAA) but what I've seen in the books is the advances in the Ferguson system in the 20 years until my 135 was made. I guess I was hoping for an easier adjustment than removing the heavy and cumbersome lift cover. Thanks to all for your comments.

Hi Steve,
Even in a new tractor you will not get full lift response over the whole quadrant. The best you can hope for would be about 3/4. It is quite possible that the internal adjustments are worn or wrong. Removing the cover is easy enough but you really should have the special tools to carry out any adjustments so that it is right.
I would suggest that you drain the oil level to the bottom bolt on the RH sise cover and remove it. With an implement attached operate the levers and note the response of the pump lever as it moves from discharge to neutral to pumping. If you have a lot of control lever movement before the pump lever moves then it may be worth investigating further.
