You have a model F continental engine in your tractor. Most likely your relief valve is stuck. It's an easy fix.

With the engine shut off, look for a large nut (plug) on the right side of the engine, just below the carburetor. Remove that plug. There will be a spring and maybe a flat washer behind that plug. BE CAREFULL YOU DON'T LOOSE ANY THING. There is a valve (Plunger) still in that hole, and it is what the spring pushes up against. That is what is stuck.

Start the engine and let it idle. Take a screw driver and put it in the hole and push that valve in, then let off on the screw driver, push in, let off, do this several times and that valve will free up. With the valve pushed in you should see a big increase in oil pressure. Make sure that valve moves freely in the bore. Then put everything back together like it came apart. If you need to increase the oil pressure after that valve is freed up, you could stretch the spring a little, or add a flat washer inside the cap, behind the spring. Be carefull, you don't want to increase the oil pressure to much, or you will have other problems.

It will probably run another 20 years with that pressure.

Smell your old oil and see if it has fuel in it.

Change your oil and filter. Try a 15-40 or a 10-40 oil.

I have an Allis Chalmers B model that has been running on 5 to 6 lbs for the last 12 years.

Hi, Massey said 10-20 lbs at FULL throttle. Then
it says Never Operate At Less than 10 lbs. Many
did operate on less and they seemed to be ok.
Are you using heavy enough oil? Chuck
