I recently rebuilt my cylinder. The chrome on my shaft was worn and it was scored so I installed a new shaft. I figured the worn shaft would eat away at the seals and cause it to leak again. I'm not sure if a new or rebuilt cylinder is available for your tractor but I would sure check into that before I tried to rebuild another one.

are you sure you have the seals in the right way spring to pressure side and if no spring lip to pressure side

Hi, not too familiar with the 50 Digger but you probably have a fairly straight forward double acting ram. Are you sure that you have the pressure seal on the rod cap fitted the correct way round? They are normally marked 'Pressure Side'.
Is the rod condition OK, no scores or flat spots?
Any rough areas will wear a new seal very rapidly.

Thanks guys for advice
I striped it down again today and the new seals were slightly damaged. There were a few rough bits on the shaft, not much though so i tried some sandpaper to smooth off. Also i put back in the old seal around the shaft, pressure side first just to see and it has reduced the leak a little.I think my dealer may have given the wrong seals?
