Hello I have a chance to buy a MF300 track loader in fair condition. I have researched the web and this site but can find very little information. "Big Deans" website list the serial numbers from late 60,s to late 70,s. I think parts are hard to find except for the engine. Anybody have one? It would only be used lightly on a farm. Thanks DH

I also wanted an inexpensive track loader for farm use, so I bought an MF 500. After 10 or 12 days of use, the transmission on one track quit pulling. My dozer mechanic is unaable to get bearings and parts, and says I must scrap the machine, which I really liked. I paid $7500. The mechanic will have a large bill. On the plus side I did about $2000 worth of work with the machine and it will scrap out at $3000. Be careful. If anyone needs part, including a good Perkins engine, I will hve them for a short time.

I have had an MF 300 track loader for about 20 years and have found it to be a good simple machine. The engine is a perkins 4.248 with a tractor (vs Industrial) style block. if you buy it you may want to consider swapping the original bosch CA45,or is it 43, starter motor for a toyota land cruiser style starter( this is a job for a good auto electrician as you need to change the face plate and pinion) the hydraulics on mine are all 'Commercial' pumps and the rod seals are simple multi vee packs so no problems there, the main control valve pack will probably be a bit tired but these are a Bonfiglioli unit and are simple for parts. I've never done anything in the transmission so I can't comment on that. I've done the final drive pinion bearings, they're a bit of a pain as you have to do them from inside the diff housing after removing everything on top of and inside the housing. The only real difficulty I've had is finding undercarriage components here in Australia. Your situation in the States might be a bit different but it might pay to check with a few track shops as to parts availability. I'm pretty happy with mine, It doesn't do much paying work anymore but it's a good garden tractor.

He wants $3500. for it but hasn't run for a year. Says there is some hydraulic leaks on the cylinder packings and it needs new batterys. I would have to move it about 120 miles also. May still go look at it. Supposed to have good sprockets and under carriage. DH

for 3500 it worth that in scrape but i would rather see it running and if the under side is good should make a good machine. you can always part it out

in there day they were 20 years a head of any thing else. the best machines i ever owned. had [3] 200 and [3] 300 one dozer and 2 loaders. but that was the good old days prats are just about all gone and what you can find will brake the bank there is no undercarriage parts left trust me i have looked and used parts are in short supply because of the scrape prices are so high that machine will bring 2000.00 just for scrape. i loved them old machines but i would pass because one part can stop you in your tracks. i did have a line on some is salvage yards but with scrap prices up they went to China

Had a 200 and a 300. Ok machines if they were running. Cant remember but one was expensive to get parts and the other was almost impossible to find parts for. Think the 200 was the hard one to find parts for. Saw one sell at L&K auction couple a weeks ago brought the price of scrap and was running and not to bad shape. Good luck.
