My Brother and I recently repaired my fathers 175 diesel tractor. We were having problems with the multipower slipping and decided to tear it down and find out what was wrong. Upon inspection we discovered the aux. pump was worn and it was replaced with a new pump. While we had everything apart we also replaced the multipower disc and plates eventhough the originals looked good as new. We also replaced all seals and sealing rings, new suction screen, and new hose from pump to transmission case. All filters were changed and new oil added. After completion everything worked great for about 5 hours. Now we are having a foaming problem at high engine speeds. The oil gets so foamy that we lose pressure to the multipower and air gets into the remote circuits causing jerky movement. The three point pump also gets jerky. This oil was purchased from Tractor Supply and is supposed be a direct relacement for the Massey Permatran Oil. We had always used Permatran prior to this but it was a Saturday purchase and our local dealer was closed. Has anyone else used this oil? If so did it work OK? What else could cause this problem? We have checked the oil level hot and cold. I know for a fact that the inlet to the pump is not restricted and the oil is clean and no water present. Does anyone think it would be worth the time and money to replace the oil? Any and all comments are welcomed.

Thanks, Curtis Elliott

Could be sucking air on the intake side of the auxillary pump. Some of the pumps that were used had a o ring on the intake screen tube, this may be what is wrong. Hope this helps you. Don Snyder

Check for a high pressure leak. A high velocity squirt will make foam.
