Thanks again for the input on the earlier post regarding the 1957 TO35 SGF. I took a look at it today. Seems to be a nice little tractor. Started easy but wanted to die occasionally till it warmed up. Helped to run with the choke partially on. No leaks at temperature and the engine oil and rear end oil levels were right and it looked right. 3pt went up and down the way I expected and the PTO ran quiet and as expected. I wasn't able to put a load on the PTO so I have to assume it doesn't slip. Front and rear tires are brand new and the paint is nicer than I expected.

I'm not a mechanic. Owner says the motor was rebuilt with a Ferguson "kit" by the previous owner. Tractor has run around 20 hours since this rebuild. It seemed to make a little more noise than I expected. Would lifters need any break in time or could they make noise because of the cold temperature (it's pretty damn cold in WI today)? I've got some video with sound I'm going to try and attach.

I'll try to attach some pictures... attaching the video is not going well. I'll keep trying, if you can give them a listen tell me what you think.

Thanks, Tim

Tim, very nice tractor. I would have jumped after it right away if I needed one. I might buy a 57 FE 35 myself a little later in the spring.

These tractors are extremely well built.

I assume just the tires are worth quite a bit of those $2500

Does it come with snow chains too ?

Bill

I agree with Fred, the seat looks like a MF 35 Special and all these I ever saw were single stage clutch, no live power, still looking at the pix. you are getting a real deal here where I live it would sell for 3500.00 or more just a thought, Buford

Thanks all for the input.

Think I'm going to have to find room for the new addition...

Looks like a good buy to me.

I listened to the video and I agree with you that the lifters are a little noisy. I would assume that they would be easy to adjust.

Tim:

That looks like a great deal for $2500.00.

The rear tires are optional 14.9x24 "flotation" tires. The are expensive. Make sure that the rims are good as 24" rims are hard to find and expensive.

I sold a 61 MF-35 (Perkins diesel) that looked much like it last spring for $5500.

Tractor sure looks good!

Mine has the upgraded seat, seat on this tractor looks like one in my owners manual that came on a TO-35 Special.

I could be wrong about that, I guess it was like a car/truck you could buy whatever options you wanted.

Mine still has the factory bug screen for the radiator.

I say looks good, go for it if you want a little tractor, before someone else comes along and buys it out from under you.

Very good looking tractor!
Can not offer advice about the price as I'm not familar with MF35.I bought a MF135 for $2500 and it doesn't look anywhere near as nice.It runs well and is a diesel and that is what I wanted.
Why is the current owner selling it with only 20 hours? If the previous owner redid the motor the current owner must not have had it very long.

The owner got a deal on a bigger ford with a loader. Only reason he's selling.

If is what your looking for and your happy with the price it is a good deal. That tractor looks very well cared for.New tires and the motor freshened up means alot of the work old tractor require has already been done.

This was my original post and another picture.

I'm looking at buying a MF35 for use on a 10acre piece of property. Basically just need it for food plot maintenance, dragging out logs and working a driveway. I don't have much expierience with Ferguson so I appreciate any input. Here's the add...
1957 Ferguson 35 tractor. 20 hours since rebuild new hoses, belts, wiring, lights, footboards, brush gaurd, 3-point hitch. Brand new tires front and back. Back tires are over sized. 6 speeds forward 2 reverse. 35 horse 540 PTO. $2500

1. Does this sound like a reasonable price?

2. Are parts easy to come by for this model?

3. Do you have one of these? How do you like it?

I've got a 47 8n that I rebuilt last winter but it's got a home at the family cabin 300 miles away. This one would be a workhorse/toy. Just don't want to get myself into a problem tractor.

Thanks for the help,
Tim

From what I see, it looks like the guy just wanted to get his money back! Even if it needed a clutch or something, I think you got a really good deal. Dave

I guess that's the one thing I didn't mention... I haven't bought it yet. He paid $2500 and is asking $2500.
