If I had $4,500 dollars to spend, I would jump up to a MF 135...Although similar, they are newer and improved. I guess it depends if you want it to look at (collect) or use also.

Around here, they go for 3-5000 dependent upon condition. $4500 is not out of range, but there is room for negotiation.

I sold one like that last summer for $1600. It had wide front, 4 cylnder gas, practically new tires. The lift, pto, clutch and brakes worked properly. It did not have power steering though.

I own a MF 50 , 3 cylinder diesel, with a loader, its a great little tractor, mine may be worth $4500. The gas , without loader IMHO not that much.

The Massey Harris 50, the Ferguson F-40, and the Massey Ferguson 50 are ALMOST the same tractor. MH50 and F-40 were from post merger days, but prior to the switch to MF branding. For some reason, MH50's aren't worth as much generally. F-40's are very much sought after, and the MF50 is worth about what a decent F-40 will bring.

The difference is primarily sheet metal. The MH50 has a slight indention along each side of the hood. F-40 doesn't have that. MF50 has basically the same hood shape as the F-40, but a slightly different grill.

A great many F-40's and MH50's were repainted with MF50 color scheme. F-40's were EITHER dark green and biege or silver and biege. MH50's were red (albiet slightly different red than MF red) and bronze. MF50's were red and flint grey metallic.

That plate you mentioned should have a serial # showing. That will be the real indicator as to which one you have. Post it here and someone can help you identify which model you own.
