Are clutch alignment tools still readily available for the 2745 tractor. I need to split the tractor to change the rear main seal.

I forget all the details, I also remember fretting about getting the transmission brake set up right. Too many years and not enough brain cells.

It might all come back to me soon, I just started into an engine rebuild and clutches on our 175 today.

JP.

Thanks for the info. I do have a service manual and have read it through so hopefully I can get it apart correctly. Jogl, according to the manual, you have to disconnect the throwout release shafts when installing/removing the engine, so I don't see how you could have pushed the clutch in without those in place?

When I did our 2705 I did not have an alignment tool so I used some appropriately sized sockets held together with ready rod and flat washers to make an alignment tool.

I was having a bear of a time getting her back together (the last half inch). I was almost ready to go beg borrow buy or have made an alignment tool when the wife came along. I had her hop into the cab and let in and out on the clutch pedal while I pushed and turned the fan belts and it popped right in. Just needed to move around a little bit for the splines to mesh up.

So I thought my home made alignment tool wasn't so bad after all, just need to keep thinking and have some patience.

I would second what Wayne said about the service manual. There is a lot of stuff to disconnect and reconnect on these 2700's when splitting, and a couple of tricky spots.

And BE CAREFUL!

Happy wrenching,

JP.

The 2745 has two clutch discs,so better be able to borrow a splined clutch alighment tool from you local MF (AGCO) dealer. No offence, but if you have not split a 2000 series tractor before, you really should have a service manual, or get back for more information,
