MF 135 Power Steering Leak

I have replaced the seal on the piston shaft 2 times and have it town down again with the same seal blown.I've checked the pump pressure which is 1100psi as the repair manual specs. None of the componets are broken and the tractor only has 1200 hours. The first one blew at 850 hours. The blown seal allows the fluid to pass into the steering gear housing and out the vent. I continue to add fluid to the pump and the power steering operates fine. Has anyone had experience with this problem? I have found that the plug in the top end of the cylinder where the seal is located has a cross drilled hole between the 2 O rings that extends towards the area where the base of the seal seats. It was drilled to the extent that the metal is bulged but the hole does not extent into the inside of the cylinder. On the outside of the cylinder a fitting connects the hole to 1/8" tubing that goes to the lower end of the control valve. Is this to allow any fluid leakage that passes the first O ring return to the control vale to prevent leakage ouside the cylinder or should the hole be completely drilled into the cylinder to allow excess fluid/pressure escape so the seal does not blow? I purchased the tractor with 800 hours about 7 years ago and was in excellent shape except for the paint. I use if for mowing, gardening and clearing snow.

I also have this problem. I am a new 135 deluxe owner, and have power steering fluid filling up my steering gear box. Also, the bolts that hold the side covers on the sector gears keep loosening up? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do have a small loader, is this to much weight for the 135's steering?

I am getting ready to do a complete engine overhaul, so tearing the power steering unit is not a big deal.

Thanks, Dave
