I have a Massey 399, when I changed my oil today I noticed that I had diesel in my oil pan, what is causing this and how can I fix it. Hope it is not too serious, the tractor runs fine, no problems yet.
Thanks for any help.

T-Smith, Don is correct. Get a new lift pump at MF dealer and you will be good to go. I have a MF-690 and the lift pump started leaking. Priced at kit versus new pump, both at dealer. Was not worth it to rebuild. Cant remember how much, but new pump was not too much. Tom

You probably can get what you need to rebuild it, but I think the last lift pump for our 285 was only about $40 a couple years ago.

Your AGCO dealer should have a kit or maybe even just the diaphram. Can,t remember weather the early 354 has the same lift pump as the later 365 engine or not?

Don is probably right. Take the lift pump apart by removing the six screws, and check the diaphram for a bad spot for fuel to get by. If this diaphram looks good, I think your next option would be the shaft seals in the injection pump. Shaft seals seem to leak easier in cold weather.

95% chance it's the lift pump. Get a new one from AGCO and be on your way.

If you've been running it alot in the cold though, could also be running cold and have dirty injectors with raw fuel washing down the cylinder walls. We've had both problems with our 285.

I've had to replace lift pumps on our 135 and 175 for the same reason. It is an easy, inexpensive fix.
