A friend and I are looking at a disabled 2200 with a backhoe and a front end loader. It hasn't been used for a long time. Don't know the condition of anything - engine - transmission - hydraulics. All the parts are there except for the pads on the stabilizing arms. What would be a reasonable value for this be if the engine is a problem and if the engine isn't a problem.

If its been sitting for a long time, chances are it needs some serious work done to it. What does it look like? Abused, welded, covered with oil? Very hard to put a price on. If the loader cylinders aren't all rusted, the loader alone is worth something. Not running and decent looking enough, I'd say maybe $1500 or so but it's really hard to say. Dave

Thanks, Dave. That is where we thought we'd start. The cylinders show no evidence of rust and there is paint everywhere - no rusted areas. Since the hood is off, we wonder about the engine.

If the unit has the 3 or 4 cyl perkins diesel engine, the block isn't cracked, and the crank can be reground, you can overhaul completely for $500 - $600 parts. Probably the cheapest engines in the world to re-do.

I'd pull the plate off the side of the injector pump and take a look for rust or dirt. Normally they stay clean, and require no attention. If there's contamination in there, though, that can mean a rebuild or replacement, and that can run the bill up fast! Like $1000 - $1500!
