In this cold winter (often below 0 F) I noticed for a few weeks that the 3 point would raise but very slowly when beginning work. Raising speed was ok after an hour or so. Still not a concern. But a few days ago it stopped lifting my snow blower (800 lbs), gradually within an hour or so. Without any load it lifts all the way up but with an equipment on it wont. I checked the level (dip stick near right heel when sitting)and condition of the transmission fluid: oil quite nice and the level reaches the low indication on the stick.

Any advice on where to look for ?

Thanks in advance

HI,
Does your snowblower exert a significant 'pull' on the top link?
Slow lift can be associated with excess wear in the control spring and adjustment in the top of the hydraulic cover. Depending on which type you have remove the rocker or control linkage so that you are left with the yoke where it goes into the rubber boot. Move the draft lever to the fully down position. Check the yoke for end float (in and out). If you have end float it will be necessary to remove the assembly and adjust it. This is often the cause of slow or no lift.
Please come back and we'll go to the next step.

Gee South Wales.. cool !

The original quadrant (position and pressure control) although still in place is most probably inactive: auxiliary hydr. have been added by the former owner, he put a double stick valve on top of transmission housing, one controling the aux. hyd. and the other for the 3pts lift. I don't like that setup but anyway. The lifting problem is the same with my 6 ft. blade, much lighter, and not pulling much on the top link.

Since I wrote my question, the tractor's engine lost its power and is now kinda dead. It has been repaired for the same trouble last summer at the MF dealer (well former dealer actually), a dead motor is over my mechanics capacities and blue skied and snow carpeted's outside facility.. so I plan to tow it there once again Monday morning for a free (I guess) repair.

Thanks for your reply.
