I was happily grading with with box blade today in low range when I shifter into what I thought was reverse, but when I released the clutch, I was still in some forward gear. The shifter is stuck and I am unable to move it at all. Clutch "feels" fine. Can easily shift from high to low range.

I do not have a good feeling about this.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Ric

Common problem, easy fix. Lots of info in the archives. Don't lift up on shifter when changing gears. Screw driver or pry bar will solve problem as stated. Dave

Remove transmission oil filler plug. Using a screwdrive, shift the shift rail(round rod toward center of tractor) to neutral and your problem should be temporarily fixed.

Doc, what Chris pointed you to will be the answer. You may find that not lifting up on the shifting lever when moving it will help prevent this in the future. Or, you have some worn components that need attention. If you do a search here for "stuck shifter" or close you"ll find lots of info on it.
