Front Hydraulic Pump Problem/Question

I went to use my MF 135 with front loader today to move some snow. When the bucket was all the way down, the hydraulics quit working. Looking at the shaft that drives the pump, I could see the shaft coming from the tractor spinning fast, but the shaft at the pump was barely moving. I took off the pump and then the small female receptacle (or whatever it's called) that receives the splined pump shaft. It was held onto the front of the shaft coming from the tractor with two bolts. The inside of the receptacle is smooth except that at the very end it has teeth to match the splines of the pump shaft. Both the pump shaft splines and the small teeth on the receptacle looked good, and I placed the receptacle over the shaft and could turn the pump with no slippage. When I tried putting it back on, I still had no luck. It appears that if I put a washer on both bolts just before the receptacle (on the tractor side) that it would force the receptacle further toward the pump and engage the teeth better. Is this OK to do, or will I be asking for some unknown problems ?

The same thing happend to me! The pump is out of alignment, and it wore the splined flange out. This part is custom made for MF and costs over $100 from the dealer. I had to work like the devil to get the pump closer to aligned for the new fitting. I also installed a zerk fitting to be able to grease it.

Email if you have more questions.
