I'm helping a friend to troubleshoot the hydraulics on his newly acquired Massey Ferguson 202. It is equipped with a loader and a backhoe, unfortunately I don't recall the model numbers. The issue he is having though is in the bucket cylinder hydraulics. The cylinders extend with no issues. The problem is when you try to retract the cylinders. If the valve is operated slowly and not opened all the way, the cylinders retract. But if you pull fast or all the way open on the valve to retract the cylinders, the bucket stalls out and the tractors bogs down (like the pump is being dead-headed, or against a relief). I'm not sure if these have just a system relief or a relief in each circut. Any ideas on what to check next would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What bucket is having the problems? The backhoe control valve could have individual relieve valves as a lot of MF's did. Dave

It is the loader bucket cylinders that are having the issue. All the other circuits seem to be working correctly.

There could be some kind of dirt or deteriorated old seals that are affecting the valve operation. Do the cylinders creep at all when the bucket is rolled up? I did the seals in my skid steer bucket cylinders and there were some chunks missing from the original seals. Could be seals in the valve as well. Dave
