Recently I bought a 1135 that would not move. after a little diagnosing I have determined it to be the shaft splines between the tranny and rear end. I have just pulled the cab and instrument column and opened up the tranny lid and rear lid. My diagnosis was correct, except there is a minor problem. Someone has welded in the bearing retainer to the trans case at the front of the main transmission shaft. Not just a couple tack welds, but the whole friggin way around!!! So now I am looking for a main transmission shaft,hi lo shaft and a transmission case! Any Ideas on good places to get parts in north west Ohio? It would be great to just find an entire transmission.

I'd call Worthington 1-800-248-9263 US, or 800-244-7662 Canada

I watched a very good mechanic work on small Fiat, to cut costs they welded most of the componets together

he had the time and was determined to rebuild it, took die grinder with thin disc and cut the welds, replaced the parts then rewelded it together

unless they got terrific penetration on the welds you might be able to do the same

will still be cobbled but might get you by until you can find the parts and fix it the right way

It appears that the groove for the snap ring for the bearing is broke out or messed up and this is why they welded it. It is hard to tell what has happed through the last 30 years of use or abuse. I bought this tractor to rebuild and use. This series of Masseys seem to be fairly common around here so I am crossing my fingers for a good complete transmission.
