I'm going to look at a MF 135 gas tractor this weekend. The owner wants me to make an offer. It does not run. He said it had carb problems. Been kept under shed. Tin fair and tires worn. If it was running I would know a fair price but what would be a fair offer with it not running. I don't have any more info on it yet.

I always say if it doesn"t run at all, it really is a parts tractor. If it turns over (take a known good battery with u) and oil pressure comes up when it turns over, that makes some difference. Won"t turn over, I"d say $600 or so. If it turns over smooth, maybe $1,000 or a little more. If he gets angry at that price, tell him to get it running and call you back. For example, you can"t check the hydraulics at all, and it"s tough to check brakes or steering, so those are two expensive things. My two cents.

Offer $900 to $1000 as you do not have any idea how much work this tractor will really need. The internal enginge may be shot etc.

Don't be too firm but at least you are setting the stage that it ain't worth the clean and running price.
