I fired up my MF65 Diesel today after a three month restoration process. Some of the items replaced were the water pump, oil pump, fuel pump, main and rod bearings, clutch, transmission input seals, brakes, axel seals and bearings and spindle bushings and bearings. It is now running and looking like new. I would like to thank all of you who helped with advice and technical info either directly or by your earlier posts. Particular thanks to DavidP and Big Dean.
David..I heeded your advice on the lower end rebuild and it now runs at over 60 lbs hot. I also used your rear main seal replacement procedure and so far not a drop of leakage.
Big Dean was a great help with the clutch and transmission seal replacement.

Prior to painting, I had all the tin soda blasted instead of sand blasted. I was very impressed by the soda blasting. It was very fast, caused no damage to the tin and the only residue was some white powder on the ground that disappeared with the first rain. I highly recommend it.

Again, thanks to all for your assistance and patience.

Don

Hi Ben,

Soda blasting uses a different setup. It's a high pressure low volume system. A large compressor is required and special hopper and nozzles. They only used 1 1/2 small bags of soda media to do all my tin.
The fellow who did mine has a mobile unit and came to my site.
The nice part was not having to clean up a lot of sand. The soda actually encapsulates the paint and grease particles and there was zero cleanup afterwards. All you see is a fine white powder on the ground.
Just do a Google search on soda blasting and you'll find all the info you need.
