HI I am loookin for some advice.
I have aquired a 63 mf 50D, purchased the books and got it home have about $400 invested. It havs not ran for about 5 years. I would like to test the engine.but the injection pump seem to be the wrong one. the fuel system is a mess. the tank has been removed and rusty inside. lift pump is stiff, secondary filter and canister is missing, primary filter element has been removed, some fuel lines are attached incorectly. The injection pump is a cav3232178 s.n.1917OC inj nozzle holder BKBL67SD5151.engine s.n. 2343713.
My question is. If i rig up filters, an electirc fuel pump to feed the injection pump will this pump work well enough to test the engine.

I forgot to mention that if you install an electric pump you have to change your ignition switch to supply constant power to the pump.
I had to put in a separate switch to power the intake heater.

When my mechanical lift pump quit an electric one was installed and it's been working for years. I just reinstalled a mechanical one as part of the restoration I'm in the middle of doing.

You should check that your plumbing to the injectors is correct and the injection pump and flywheel timing marks coincide.

Bleeding the air out of the system is critical as is keeping everything clean..

Good luck

Don

Does the engine even turn over? I'd check that and a bunch of other stuff before I put more money into it. Maybe it can be fixed? The bigger concern is how much will it cost to fix. Dave

Dave, Firts of all thanks for the responce
Yes the engine turs over and has compression.
what I want to do is to test the engine and injection pump. the service manual lists the pump for a earler engine by sn. I have a ad3152 the pump is listed for an ad152. If the pump is any good will it run this engin will the timing stay the same as what is in the book. I do realize that I may have a parts tractor.
thank Lyle

Your tractor has an A3-152. The AD3-152 is the later direct injection engine. I'm not an expert on engines but I know that if the injection pump is taken off, it has to be retimed with the engine. Dave

I understand what your are telling me but by the engine ser.no. it dosen't have combustion chamber caps on the head. I didn't realize the 50 wasent manufactured withe the ad3. It must have been chaged at some time?
