I found this swimming in the bottom of the hydraulic oil near the drain. looks like it is a spring steel end from something. anybody know where this went? It is about 5/8 inch long and 1/4 inch across the spring part. Also the dipstick was broken off and in there also. sorry about the blurry pics.

thank you. you are correct. i looked and found the bit under the rivet stll there. the funny thing was when i was removing the roller as i was dissasembling i wondered how the adjuster screw stayed in it was so loose. now i know.
Now do you or anybody know where the other attachment point for the return spring is? one end is obvious in the arm(a little hole). Is the other directly over it about 2 inches over what looks to be a spacer rivet on another arm?

Yep, got it in one. It is awkward to fit. A very long-nose pliers or bent wire makes it easier.
Worth fitting the correct spring.

Hi Steve,
After a bit of head scratching I think you will find that it is from the vertival lever which makes contact with the pump lever. You should have two knurled adjusting screws in the lever, one for the pump and one for the Pressure Control diaphragm if you have PC fitted. The clip that you have found is fitted to prevent the screw turning of its own accord either in or out. I believe that it is held on with a small rivet.
Happy New Year
