you don't need the shield on there if you don't have the arm on.Just flip your trip pedal over backwards and there is almost no danger, just when you are using something with the lift and have the arm on.Otherwise that shield is in the road for no reason.

does the lift lever come all the way around or does it lift 180 degrees once and then the next trip rotate back down 180 degrees. makes sense to me that it would rotate back the 180 degrees rather than come all the way around.

LISTEN to the others and have that shield on there,That shaft ONLY runs ONE way with no reverse of direction.Over the years there have been a lot of broken ankles, feet and legs from people NOT having that shield on there. That shaft CAN NOT BE STOPPED one it starts until it has made its 180 movement.

Hi TravisB - When you trip the petal on the right side, be sure your foot is not back by the power lift. When the lift lever comes around, the outcome for your heel will not be good. If you can find a shield that was used there, I'd put it on. I have two 44-6 and a 101jr, and I have been glad the shield was on a couple times. (I'm not big on safety shields, they are usally in the way, but this is the exception.)Good luck.

It is called a Power Lift. Should be a trip pedal on the right side of the platform. You have to engage the pulley/PTO before the mechanism will work.Rotates the bell crank 180 degrees every time the pedal is stepped on.Dad had a 2 row mounted corn planter and a two row cultivator that was operated with the Power Lift system on his 44-6.
