I am doing a complete teardown and restoration of a 44. In the transmission there are two bearings. One bearing has balls the other has rollers. I noticed a couple of balls and rollers are missing. They are not in the bottom of the tranmission case. Is this normal or do I need to replace these bearings. If I need to replace where can I get them?

I would think that if a roller or ball is missing you are going to have trouble.
I just ordered some bearings and seals for the diferential on a 44 SP from a bearing supply company. I gave them the numbers off the old parts. Some things they had, one was 3 days out, but I'm not complaining. Last year I got bearings for the steering gear from NAPA.
Let us know how you make out on the project. I may get into my transmission too.
Good luck!

Doug
