Got a question. Have a 175 MF that will start fine and run for about 1 hour. shuts off like out of fuel. Will not restart until next day and then repeats same situation. Any ideas?

You should check for blockage in the fuel tank, line and filter. If its a gas engine pull one the plug wires and see if there's fire. You need to do this before the engine cools. Could be a weak coil. Hal

Hello,
Couple of ideas, all fuel related. Firstly slacken the fuel filler cap.
1/It is possible for the breather to be blocked and create a vacuum in the tank until the flow stops and may return over a period of time.
2/ There should be a strainer on top of the fuel tap. This can become blocked and only allow fuel through very slowly or not at all. The filters do come off the tap in which case it will be the tap that might be blocked.
3/ Next down the line is the lift pump. There should be a gauze strainer inside the cap. This is a regular problem. The upper part of the pump body is likely to be full of rubbish as well.
4/It would be advisable to change the main filter/s.
When the system is clean disconnect the outlet pipe from the pift pump and operate the hand lever. It may be necessary to turn the engine slightly to get full movement on the pump.
One or more of the above should solve your problem.
