Here is some information supplied by Scottf

"The MF98 is an Oliver 990 with Massey Ferguson sheet metal, seat and of course the MF color scheme. The MF98 does not even get it's own serial number. The serial numbers for the MF98 are out of the same block of numbers as the 990. They added - 943 after the serial number. The Super 99 had been replaced with the 990 by the time the MF98 came out. The MF98 was made in 1959 and 1960. The majority are 1960. The 990 HP was increased slightly over the Super 99 bringing the HP up to 84HP. This was achieved by turning up the RPMs."

Here are some Oliver serial numbers
Model 950, 990 GM, &, 995 GM
1958 530 001 530 387
67 828 71 112
1959 71 245 84 376
1960 84 487 95 350
1961 110 064 115 469

Hope this helps

Don

You have to many numbers in your serial number. You should have two numbers followed by a hyphen, then three numbers followed by another hyphen, then another three numbers. I can still tell you that, by the first two numbers (86), your tractor was built in early 1960. The extra number that you should not have in one of the (4764). The 947 number is the transmission code. I hope this helps.
