now im not sure what model i have. how can i tell if i have a 230 or 240 or 245. mine is a 6 speed w/o multi power if that tells anything. serial is 9a30I997. Then my questions are what can cause the 3 point not to lift. it leaks like crazy and i think it has soaked the clutch to the point it will barely let the tractor move itself. are there seals in the tranny that commonly let go on these models?
thanks for the replys all..

thanks for the help guys. this is my first mf. it does have some drive on flat ground but under much load it slips. The clutch seems to grab when it is almost all the way out. there is a lot of oil coming out the bottom. being as this tractor does not have multi power is there just tranny seals that are leaking? and what about the 3 point hitch not working? i will try to add a picture tomorrow when it gets light. the tractor has flat top fenders with a work light in their front edge if that means anything also. i think it must be either a 230 or a 245 but i wish there was a number somewhere that would tell me. thanks again guys

The MF230 as far as I know did not come with Multipower the serial number is wrong for an MF240 so what you have must be a 1979 MF245 or that serial number is also used for the 1979 MF255, MF265 and MF275 hope this helps

Is your tractor a 3 cylinder? If it is I think it might be a 245. The flat top fenders weren't available on the 230. It is possible someone put them on anyway. Isn't there any numbers on the side? Dave

Hi BIg Dean,
Great to see you posting again. Hope you are feeling better. Steve, your clutch can be immersed in transmission or engine oil if you have leaking seals but you should have some semblance of drive and certainly in the lower gears.
Further to my reply to your last posting; do you have 'free' pedal travel and a second stage where is should be?
