My friend recently purchased a 135 MF, moving the position control does nothing to the lift arms. Moving the draft control lever moves the lift arms up & down but there is no intrmediate heighth adjustment, only all way down or all way up. It also makes a knocking sound inside where hydralic pump & controls are, noise being louder if lifting something heavier. What could be the problem?

There is a piece of linkage inside that is bad to pop out of place that will keep the position control from working the pump control valve It is especially bad about popping out if the implement hits something while backing up but it will do it going forward as well.

For the position control to have effect, the draft control must be all the way up.

The knocking is probably coming from the pump or the pump mounting. It was discussed on this forum in the last couple weeks and a search should turn it up.

1. If you do a search on this page,top-center, for lift knocking or hydraulic lift, you"ll get a lot of info about the knocking, NOT totally uncommon on MF lifts. 2. Place position and draft lever up all the way. Then move the position and see if it stays where you want it to. If not then you have some adjusting of the levers to do. From your description it seems the draft is working okay. 3. Go to Big Dean"s website below and read all you can. 4. There are several 135 experts here if you pick their brain. Also many previous posts with the same problems.
