HI Steve, Didn't mean to imply any stupidity,Sorry. Is the tractor new to you? The
Power take off lever must be engaged before the
hydraulic pump will run and actuate the 3 point
arms. Also if it has an auxillary valve on top
of the diff. housing just ahead of the seat, that
needs to be set correctly. A memory lapse here-
I'll need to pull out a book I guess. Someone may
be better able to tell how to configure that. Or
I'll have to look tomorrow. Good luck, Chuck

The PTO shouldn't have to engaged for the 3 pt. to lift on a 230. The clutch has to be out for at least the first stage though. Maybe on an early Ferguson with single stage clutch the PTO has to be engaged. 8n's are like that. Dave

ok. im stupid. it doesnt have multi-power but it is slipping. and the three point hydraulics arent working. is maybe the pump leaking inside and getting the clutch wet with fluid?

Hi Steve, Where did you get a 230 with multi-power? The 230, at least in US, was a basic
tractor w/o frills and none of my books show
any multi-power. It does sound like you have a
clutch slippage. Do you have enough free-play
in the clutch pedal. Chuck

I thought the same thing. I've seen it on a 245 but not a 230. Hmmm. Dave

Hi,
Would have to agree with everyone else. 230's in the UK do not have MP but did not know about the States. Do you have any free travel on the clutch pedal before you feel the pressure. You should have about 3/8" from the point where the pedal makes contact with the footbar. You should then feel the second stage of the clutch about halfway down. The PTO should disengage about 1" before the pedal reaches the bottom of its travel. If you do not have these results please come back and we'll go to the next step.
