Actually the mustang was available with both horizontal and vertical exhaust. The vertical exhaust was a factory option. If you have access to an original mustang parts manual it shows the option. Our scanner is being retarded or i would scan a picture in for you.

Yes, I see that in my parts manual. It is very interesting as it shows two different Manifolds. One for the horizontal exhaust and a different one for the vertical exhaust with a heat control valve. Is this valve for "K" low grade fuel models? Looks to me that if it has the standard manifold, the exhaust should be horizontal?

yeah the valve is for the 'k' models. there is a manifold shield that i think holds more heat for the kerosene but i am not 100% sure about that.

I have seen both vertical and horizontal. Some of the vertical ones I have seen were obviously cut out but I have seen ones with nice looking holes also that looked like they could be from the factory.

Nice job!! I have a 1953 Row Crop Mustang.Mine also has a vertical exhaust and many died-in-the- wool Massey people tell me that all Mustangs had horizontal exhausts. What have you heard?
