I have always liked the looks of the massey pony. I have seen very few gray Pony's. I asume that they were just plain, Ferguson's. What is the story on them and when were they made that way?

My Gray Pony's serial number plate says "Massey-Harris-Pony" so it is not a plain Ferguson.

The Grey Pony is identical to the Massey Harris Pony not a Ferguson. The Gray Pony came about after the merger of the Hassey Harris and Ferguson . The story goes so I was told the privatly owed ferguson dealers would not sell the red tractors on their lots so they were painted gray instead .

( Ferguson dealers thought the Pony was a outdated underpowered tractor, essentually a toy. It was if you compare it to the features of ferguson tractors at the time)

Many of these (if not all ) were red tractors repainted Gray. I've also heard the unsold ones went back to be painted red once again. The decals are different. about 350 made this way. Not all 1954 Pony's were gray.

Hope I have this right
