Does anyone know why the ball ends on the 3 point lift arms are spring loaded? You can push in a small rod that is spring loaded and then you can rotate the ball end upwards. I'm not a farmer so I was just wondering what purpose this serves.

The ends are seperate so they can be switched
between catt.l and catt.2. The spring and slide
pin are just for ease of hooking up a plow, disk
or other implement that is not exactly lined up.
The smaller tractors and implements didn't need
this because small implements could be "tugged"
around easier. Good luck, Chuck

Thanks Chuck.

When I hooked up stuff on my 8N I just moved the implements around or pushed or pulled the tractor into position...all with my muscles. All well and good, but I'm getting too old for that! Now I have to take more time and line things up better. Maybe the spring ends will help me even more.
