I am looking to put a belt driven hydraulic pump on my MF 65 for the loader. It is currently running off the remotes and is to slow. The way the loader mounts and bolts to the front and the steering problems with the 65 would make a shaft pump very hard.

Anyone put a belt driven pump on a MF 65? How did you mount it?
What size pump should I go with?

I see www.metkit.com sells a "Belt Drive Option Kit" for $457.50 and am waiting for an e-mail response as to the contents of the kit and pump size. Has anyone installed on? What is included?

The parts to install the front pump are available off this site. I got my pump from Surplus Center, and plumbed the feed and return from the trans sump. You bore a hole through the PTO control lever plate to plumb the feed, drop a sump and return through the fittings in the top plate.

The easiest way to solve the steering problem is to find steering spindle arms with a steeper gooseneck rather than the fancy steering arm everyone talks about. Got mine from a salvage yard for $75.

Whole project cost me about $350 and a weekend of work. Details and part numbers are posted on the site in previous posts.

Sounds like it. It fits inside the crankshaft pulley and bolts into three holes drilled and threaded there. If you want to be sure, measure across the inside of the pulley and feel for the holes.

IIR, I got the shaft (he he) from the website too. If you know a machinist, he could probably make you one from bar stock, just be sure you have him turn a left hand thread to screw into the the pump plate. You'll also need a flexible coupler to attach the shaft to the pump. I used a Lovejoy.

My pump is an 11 gpm, and theres not much I can't use it for, from loader to driving post holes. Best mod I ever did for the 65.

Where did you get the pump? What model?

If I am correct I need a counter clock wise, correct?

What size pump did you go with? Are you happy with the GPM and your loader?

Jeff, Dan has mentioned the front pump. It will
mount and accept a shaft but it will not steer
very far to the left. When they were newer a few
had been converted over to some newer style strg.
linkage parts but that would be difficult now.
Also if it has the original c/shaft pulley that
would also have to be changed. Chuck

I have a 65 that I put a front mount pump on. There is room for it just below the rad. There is a hole there for the shaft to go thru and connect to the crank pulley. You will need to mount an oil tank somewhere for the pump....I mounted a tank just in front of the grills...it is about 5 inches thick, 14-16" wide, and about a foot and a half high. It works excellent. You will need to mount a two or three spool open center valve somewhere to control the loader functions, and should put a filter in the system as well. Make sure the filter is rated at whatever flow the pump is. I also have a Super 90 tractor that I mounted a rear PTO pump on. It was a Prince pump and is rated at 21gpm. It has worked very well, but does tie up your PTO. Make sure you get the cast iron pump and not the cheaper aluminum one, as it will last longer. Again, you will need to mount a tank on the rear of the tractor for the oil to supply the pump. Hope this helps.
