Hello:

I recently found some photos of a Massey Harris warehouse with workmen inside who appear to be assembling some type of Model T's or Model A's for farm use-not tractors. The manufacturing that was done was not for tractors, but for trucks. There is no type of assembly line workmanship, rather, each Massey Harris vehicle is being assembled completely by hand, each vehicle also seems to have only one or two men doing all the work from the bottom up. Since the predominance product was tractors, I would be interested if anyone had information of a time long ago when MH was manufacturing T's or A's as farm trucks. Pictures seem to be dated around 1910-1915. I can scan them if anyone would like more information. thanks

Tom: I may have a piece of your puzzle; I posted a question abour Massey trucks on 1-13, but didn"t look at your post (until today) assuming it was about tractor production photos.
I"ve got a 1930 McCord gasket catalog that lists two MH tractors, and following those is a listing as follows:
Massey Harris 4 Truck.....Cont S4 engine (the "4" is in the column mostly used for number of cyls, and the S4 was a 4cyl).
The S4 was also an over-the-road engine, used in a fair number of the "assembled" trucks of the period, and, in my limited references, I haven"t noticed it used in any tractors of the period.
The truck question was complicated by a 79 catalog showing a whole raft of "truck" models under MHF, presumeably industrial lift trucks etc. Did you get your pix posted???

I wouldn't mind a look...alternatively, post them on the 'tractor photos' section?

Thanks, Steve.
