Having trouble with the brake on the drive shaft on my 1505.I replaced all brake parts including master cylinder after a restoration.There is only one line from the master cylinder to the brake cylinder.The brake will get hot and expand out to the drum ,the only way to get them to contract again is to open the bleeder,then close it.would backing off the brake adjuster fix this?why doesn't the fluid go back to the master cylinder?any help would be appreciated

Hi,
I have to admit that the 1505 is not a tractor that I am familiar with but as a general comment;
I understood that there was a disc brake on the driveshaft of the 1505 but from your posting it suggests that you have shoes. If this is the case do you have the return springs fitted/correctly? Do you have normal stroke of the brake pedal when the system is cold? Is there any possibility that the brake pistons may be tight? As long as the adjuster will allow the shaft to turn freely there is little more that you can do. If you have rebuilt the master cylinder it may be possible that fluid can be trapped in the MC thus holding the brake 'on' if a seal is fitted incorrectly for example.

Thanks DavidP for the reply,the hardware is correctly attached,the master cylinder,and the brake cylinder are new.It just seems that the fluid sometimes gets trapped and can't get back to the master cyl. or has no place to go.When it happens you can't push the brake pedal in at all,you have to open the bleeder on the brake cyl.and that allows the brake shoes to contract.By the way the tractor is heading in your direction next week leaving halifax N,S for Liverpool,then to a place called HOLME ON SPALDING.not sure how far you are from that.thanks DavidNS

Hello David,
We'll have to form a welcome committee! Have you checked for pinching of any steel or closure of any flexible pipes fitted? If you should have a failed flexible brake hose it may allow oil under pressure to go one way through the pipe but not allow it back.
I am about 220 miles from Spalding. If you know Lincolnshire I visit a customer occasionally at Horsington near Horncastle who has two of our Noremat machines. www.noremat.fr
Hope this is of some help.
