Massey Ferguson used 80-90 wt. in the transmission and hydraulics BEFORE Multi-Power was introduced. Then they changed to 20 wt. The lighter oil can be used in the older tractors.

Its for trans, hydro, and rear. Several people in my area say its to thick for an old worn tractor and when winter hits in michigan, it will be way too thick for an old pump. So I think Im going to TSC and get their trans/hydro oil.

For winter use the manual says to drop to a 30 wt oil. Yes, it will be think and slow in the colder weather. I run it in my MF-65 all year and in winter snow removal (15 deg) it is slow until it warms up. about 15 minutes of use.

Using the trans-hydrolic fluid is fine if it meets the MF specs.

That is the correct oil for the Transmission and Hydraulics. You do not say where you need the oil for. If for the engine then yes it is too thick. Use 30 wt. oil.

However for the rear end NAPA 65-205 is the correct GL-1 oil. No problem here.

The new Permetran III will work for pumps in good tight condition. However may leak from more worn systems. This is per Big Dean.

If it's the mineral oil w/ GL-1 rating, it is what was originally specified by the manufacturer.

The modern substitute is Perma-Tran III from Massey, but the GL-1 mineral oil should be fine from what I have read and understand.
