Ok I was on here earlier w/ problems with my spool valve. Now I have my dip tube properly engaged into the pump side and the top end secured into the factory blank plate. The problem now is I here a noise like disc moving around in the rear when I try to move the 3 point up. It still is in the down position and not able to move either way. What is the noise.....a bad pump????? ??

Dumb question. Is your trans oil level topped up?
If so, It's probably time to pull the top cover and take a look-see. Could be a clogged filter, a busted pump or a shaft coupling problem.

If you remove it, watch out. That top cover is a lot heavier than it looks.

Ya I just put new fluid it it. How much of a pain is it to take the top cover off? I see I will have to deal with the top link. Not looking foward to it!

You could try pulling off the side inspection covers to see what you can see (and feel) but you'll probably end up pulling the top cover in the end.

It's not so bad. Remove the seat, pull all the bolts around the edges, being sure to keep track of which goes where, because they are different lengths. You already have the hydraulic plate with the down tube loose, so that's not a problem to pull out. Get a buddy and pull the top cover straight up. Don't pry hard, or whack it with anything but a rubber hammer or wood block to loosen it because the casting is very brittle and'll crack on you if you're not careful.

The top link? I'm not sure what you mean. Pull the down links off the lift arms and all that comes off with the top plate. You'll want to be very careful of the hydraulic control pod. Reinstalling it can be a little tricky, you need to block the valve control arm back with a wood wedge so the control arm fingers are in front and can work correctly. Look carefully at the arrangement with the side cover off before you disassemble it, and if you have a digital camera take a pic or two so you get it right. If you don't, the valve won't work and you have to pull the cover off again to fix it. I use rtv to form a gasket when I reinstall.

So what do you think the noise is. It cant get air locked and starve for fluid can it??? Clogged filter? I just changed the oil and it was nasty with lots of crud and water in it. I think the boots are dry rot and cracked. The link I was talking about is work cylinder under the top plate that pushes the top link of the 3 point. When I get it apart what should I look for??? thanks!

Could be a lot of things, and you won't know until you look. When you pull the top plate, all that stuff comes along with it. That's part of what makes it so heavy, in that the piston and cylinder are bolted underneath. Remove only the bolts that are along the edges of the top plate.

Some pumps have a filter, others don't. You need to take a look.

How much water? If it had water in it, and the water froze last winter, you could have a busted pump on your hands.
