I have a MF 50 farm tractor with a front loader useing a pto driven Prince hydraulic pump. The pump has some serious problems and I am wanting to replace it. What other brand of pto hydraulic pumps are available? What do you fellows recomend based on your experiences?

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts on this subject and for all of the useful information you share on the forum.

I have a MF Super 90 that has a Prince 21 GPM PTO driven pump on it. This is the second one as the first one worked well for many years before it wore out and I replaced it with another one. I have had no problems with this system. It works well with the front end loader. Only drawback is that the PTO shaft is tied up with the pump. These pumps are a good alternative to spending a lot of money on an older tractor and still being able to get good hydraulics. I bought my Prince pump at Princess Auto for about $550.00. Watch though when you buy one to get the cast iron one rather than the aluminum ones which may be cheaper.

Both Prince and Tractor Suppy Company offer an extension that attaches to the pto that extends through the pump and allows the pump and pto to be used at the same time.

Been there had that. Much prefer my loader pump to be driven off the engine. Then I don't have to take the loader off to run a mower with the PTO.

For my MF-236 loader, I used a 5 gpm pump, made a shelf under the radiator and ran a shaft through the hollow front axle pivot pin and connected it to the cranshaft pulley. My crankshaft pulley (MF-135) has a flat flange with bolt holes so I made piece to fit with a hexagonal hole and shoved in a shaft with a hex end but round. I used a flexible coupling at the pump shaft. Bought the pump from Northern Tool.

I have a MF 1080 that I installed a Prince pto pump on when the dealer told me it would cost $2000 or more to replace the auxillary hydraulic inside the transmisson.I tapped into the transmission for the oil supply, putting a 10 micron filter before the pump. I have no problems with the pump. There are several different size Prince pumps, you may need one with more GPM.
