Hi, the battery on my MF 135 (diesel) has been weak for a while, and now it has finally given up. The battery that is on it now was an old one the man had laying around when I bought it, and I think it has over 900 cold cranking amps, but it has always sounded weak so I don"t know it was just the battery itself or I need more cca. How many cold cranking amps should I look for when I replace it? Thanks, Matt

Don"t overlook your wiring. A big starter wire and grounding straps with good, clean connections makes a big difference.

My owner's manual says you want a 95 AH 12 volt battery. Since they don't specifically rate batteries that way these days, you need 228 reserve minutes at 25 amps load.

Or go measure the battery box. Get the highest rated battery (cranking amps, CCA, reserve minutes) that will fit in the box. The more overrated the battery is the longer it will last.

Likely at least someting in a #4 family, not a typical car or truck battery.

Matthew, I put a exide 750 cold cranking amps in my 135. The same battery was used in my 1085 for a while and it started fine. In my 135 it turns over but not as fast as the 1085. I think I might need to rebuild the starter.
