Have purchased a MF35 complete with front end loader. Purchased seperatly a 6" 3PH blade. Can"t have the blade on the 3PH hitch when using the loader as blade falls to ground. Why won"t the blade stay in the up position so I can use the loader. The loader stays up so I can use the blade.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Please see photo"s of the diverter valve. I can also post any photos that may help solve this problem, Just Ask.
Thanks fo yoiur help.

Jody

Jody,

I don't have a my loader installed on my 65 yet but my MF basic and auxilliary hydraulics manual recommends the following in situations where you want the lift arms to stay in a transport position. Move the right check chain from the lower differential housing attachment to a stay plate that is attached to upper side of the differential housing. The check chain will hold the arms up while you are using the loader. This setup is also used when you want to keep the arms clear of the swinging draw bar. Make sure you still have some upward movement of the lift arms to make it easier to release the check chain and move it back to it's lower position when you want to use the blade. Personally, I don't see why you couldn't have a second check chain permanently attached to the upper stay plate that you could just hook to a clevis on the lift arm when it's raised. This could even be done from the tractor seat if it's set up properly. It's not a perfect solution but it's another option instead of using a solid stay link bar which would be harder to install and remove with the blade attached. The downside to using a chain is that it won't keep the implement from "bouncing" at higher speeds when the going gets rough. This would be a little hard on your linkages and arms. If anyone sees any other cons to this setup please feel free to comment as I will be in a similar situation once my loader is installed. I would prefer to use a front mounted pump for the loader but I have a problem with the pump shaft interfering with the steering arm. Hopefully I can find the modified arm or have one made as per Big Dean's drawing.

Don

That sounds like a good idea. I had thought about attaching a chain like that somehow. I was thinking maybe a chain or possibly an arm that attached to the long pin that goes across the top of the diff. just under the top link pin on the tractor. Then just the pin would have to pulled to use the blade. Dave

All MF tractors with the ferguson system will creep down. If you are just using the 3 pt. the pump is supplying the amount of oil required to keep the implement at the set height. When you have a diverter valve and you switch it so you can use aux. hydraulics, for a loader or remote cylinder, you are stopping the pump from supplying the oil to keep the 3 pt. up. If your tractor was brand new it would still creep down but would creep very slowly. Once a tractor gets some hours on it the 3 pt. will gradually start to creep down faster. It's just from normal use. It doesn't cause any real problems except the one that you are having. Normally you don't have to take the tractor apart unless the 3 pt. starts to drop fairly rapidly. You'll probably notice it will creep down faster with a heavier implement. My tractor does the same thing as yours. If I'm using the loader, I have to keep lifting the blade up every couple of minutes or so. If I have a lot to do with the loader I will take all implements off the 3 pt. It will creep very slowly then but even if it goes down all the way, it doesn't matter. It's still off the ground. If you are operating a remote cylinder on a pull type implement and using a draw bar on the lift arms, the 3 pt. will also keep going down. You can buy braces that attach to the top link that hold the 3 pt. up when using a drawbar on it. This is the proper way to use the drawbar as it also stops the lift arms from going up. Lift arms have nothing to stop them from going up. They can be lifted up by hand which makes it easier to mount implements. I hope this helps explain it for you. There is probably nothing wrong with your tractor that needs any attention. If there is one drawback to the ferguson system this would be it. I've thought about making some kind of arm or bracket that would hold up the 3 pt. with implements on it so I don't have the same problem as you. Dave

Thanks Dave

This clarifies things.
I would like to look at some kind of device to hold up my blade as winter here can be pretty nasty and unhooking & hooking it in 40 below is not nice.
Let me know if there are some designs out there that might work for us.
Again, Thanks for your help.

Jody

Have you come up with a solution? Can you post pictures?
