Crawler has a 248au diesel engine that suddenly started smooking(and using a quart of oil per hour). I pulled the head and found a sleeve that had slipped down about 1/2 inch but it appeared that it had been running that way for quite some time, and no evidence of oil pumping on that cylinder. Any way, I now need to pull the oilpan, but the crossmember is in the way of getting to the pan bolts and dropping the pan. I've got a couple of ideas foe working this problem out, but would like to hear from someone with experience. thanks, mw

Marlowe, thanks for the reply. The two bottom oil-pan to transmission bolts are impossible to remove because of the crossmember/front axle. Can the crossmember bolts be removed and the front of the crawler be jacked up to gain access to those bolts to remove the engine?? mw
