The MF 165 I"m thinking about purchasing has rear wheel weights. It looks to me like the weights are the center of the wheel as well. The seller said they unbolted from the center of the wheel but it sure doesn"t look like it to me. Anyone know anything about this type of wheel weights? If they are the wheel center, does anyone know how hard it would be to purchased non-weighted wheel centers? Also, any idea as to how much the weights weigh?

For the life of me I cannot figure out why you would want to get rid of 'em. I am pretty sure that most MF165 owners would trade you outright for the lightweight centers. The only downside I can see is that they would make it harder to change the tire, but this is a minor concern. When Nebraska tested the predecessor of this model, they had to add 2K lbs to the rears to provide enough traction to reduce slip to 5%. This means this tractor is overpowered and can use the additional pounds. This option today is easily worth an additional $500 dollars over the lightweight style.

Let us know what you decide.

The primary purpose of this tractor is going to be running a 6' finish mower. I don't need the extra weight when pulling that. The additional weight actually hurts me because it's going to make deeper tracks in my yard, especially if the ground is a little soft. I also want to run a 6' brush hog so that's why I wanted a tractor of this horsepower. I'm trying to find a balance between horsepower and weight. I like the MF 165 for the job...just not with the extra weights. My guess is they probably weigh about 500 lbs each. I would much rather have the lighter centers.

optionally you can fill your rear tires with calcium for a lot less money and I can assure you they are plenty heavy :) hard to deal with that way for small things like repair valve stems and the sort.

just a suggestion as I know nothing about wheel weights.
