Why do the linkage arms seem to drop on most MF tractors when you turn the engine off . I have a MF 265 and it has always done this since i have owned the tracor , otherwise the hydraulic system works brilliantly .

Hello Huw,
The standard Massey Ferguson answer to your question is "why do you want them to stay up?"
I agree it would be helpful if they could be locked up but from a safety angle all implements should be lowered to the ground if the tractor is to be left for any period of time. Leakages can occur from a number of locations. Obviously on a new tractor any leakages should be absolutely minimal. The most likely places on worn tractors are from the lift cover cylinder and the stack pipe O rings. If you have an isolating valve, shutting it with an implement lifted will give an indication of the condition of the piston and cylinder by the time it takes to drop.
