How to Remove Superior Loader from MF150

Just drove home -- in a cloud of smoke -- a newly acquired 1968 MF150 with a "Superior" loader attached. So I can get into tractor to address the multiple issues of electrical, sheetmetal, leaks and hoses, I want to take this loader off. I see the big pins which hold this fluid filled frame in place, and without having the manual for anything in-hand yet, I'd like to safely and properly disconnect the pump. From down below the tractor, under front PTO hydraulic pump where so much lubrication flows freely, between drops on my face I see a shaft extending back to the engine, and that connection is not as obvious. Anyone have experience with the right way of removing this entire loader assembly as a unit? My preference would be to remove the entire unit, without sacrificing the integrity of the fluid in that system. I got a pix of this beasty in the Tractor Photos section under MF150, and if I were more adept, it'd be here too.

Removing a Loader - Tks Big Dean, too. in reply to Dale in WV, 10-15-2007 11:17:32
Its off. Thankful for an overhead hoist, an extra set of hands and a fairly straightforward pump removal. It is driven by a splined shaft -- couple bolts and it pulled loose. Tricky rocking the whole assembly forward 20" or so, but it worked. Now I can see what mess I'll find beneath the metal on the MF 150.
tks.

Im not familiar with that type of loader but you will almost certainly lose some fluid when removing those old loaders. I usually have to remove the pins from the boom and the bottom of the lift cylinders and the hoses running to them. Hoist it up a little and move the tractor out from under it. Then remove the side frames and disconnect hoses from pump. Then remove the pump, and the shaft should come out with it. Then you can use the tractor as long as the pump is removed so you wouldnt burn it up. But then again your loader may come off as a unit. If so it should be easy to tell if it looks like it will clear the front axle. I have always found it easier to handle when putting it back together if it is in separate pieces.
