I have a 1990 1020. I use it sparingly as we only have a 10 acre horse farm. I was mowing last week and I ran into a railroad tie while cutting along the riding ring.

I then couldn't steer that well and the steering wheel just spun in my hands...barely able to move the front wheels.

Any ideas on what's wrong?

Thanks.

Are you talking about the MF1200 articulated 4WD tractor? Don"t know whats on the web, they came out in about 1972/3, MF188 Axles, MF188 hydraulis & Main gearbox, with perminant 4WD through a transfer box. Driven by a Perkins A6.354 engine.
They were assembled by another company, I think, near Manchester, not by MF themselves. They evolved into the 1250 which used MF595 mk2 axles and gearbox, from memory the last of those were sold in about 1983. Realy good traction, but only just over 100hp at the flywheel, would handle a 4 furrow reversable plough in adverse conditions. Where are you? I did not think that any of those were exported outside of the U.K.

You are on one of the best right here. I am unaware of any MF 1200 specific websites. There is alot of knowledge here so if you have a specific question, ask.

Big Dean is a retired MF mechanic and knows just about every MF machine made inside and out.
