MF 50 Axle Seals -- again

OK, I have removed both rear axles from my beloved MF-50, and then replaced the inner seal (the one that fits into the outboard end of the axle housing) and removed the shaft bearing collar from each axle. The inner race for the bearing is apparently pressed onto the axle, too -- did anyone know this or is this some joke from the Massey Ferguson people? Anyway, how do I get this bearing/bearing race off the axle, so I can replace the outer seal -- without going for outside help?

Dan, To save lots of work install a Shur Seal
easily available and probably from this site.
You need to slide the complete axle assembly out,
slip the shur seal over the axle assy. into the
bearing retainer assembly. This cuts off oil to
the bearing so you simply pack the bearing as you
would a wheel bearing and you are set to go. It is
a good time to check your end play by removing
a shim if necessary. This should be the end of your problem. Chuck

Thanks, Chuck. By the time I got to read your reply, though, I'd already sent the axles to my local MF dealer for a little help. Should get 'em back tomorrow. Shouldn't take more than a few hours (NOW I'VE DONE IT!) to reassemble, after repacking the bearings. I'll let you know how it turns out.

do you want to save bearings if so us a bearing puller if not a hammer and crack the race or die grinder and cut it all kinds of way to remove it

Yeah, I'd like to save the bearings. There's a small hardware store/machine shop about 4 miles away who can pull these for me. I guess I'll take it there. That should cost less than new bearings. I hate to think what they cost -- those d*mn collars cost about $13 each, and they're just simple thick steel rings -- cold-rolled, I think, considering how I was able to drill and chisel them apart. Thanks for the help.
