My MF 65 still won"t start. I made sure I had fuel flow but nothing. It cranks just fine but just won"t start. I pulled a plug and tried firing it - no spark at the plug- I pulled the wire from the coil and held it by metal and cranked- no spark - I changes coils and repeated -no spark.
Where should I be looking next? Where does the coil get its juice from -I am just kinda trying to work backward.
I am pretty sure my entire problem is electrical and I am an electrical idiot- any advice would be great
thanks in advance

Tom, it definitely sounds like ignition, so follow what Gerald suggests. Points are very likely to fail as they're the only moving parts and they wear down, in fact they should be regarded as consumables and replaced regularly.

All cars used this sort of non-electronic ignition back in the old days, so if you can find an experienced auto electrician he should be able to find the problem.

Coil hasn't power. Gets that from the ignition switch.

Points aren't opening and closing. Point gap isn't set correctly.

Points are shorted. Improper installation, pinched wire or shorted condensor.

Coil is bad, open windings or shorted turns.

You need some electrical test equipment, like a 12 volt test light and some electrical knowledge.

If I have a good coild shouldn't I see a spark when I remove the lead from the coil at the distributor cap and place it near ground and crank the starter? tom

Only IF the points are opening and closing and not shorted by a pinched wire or bad condenser AND you have power to the coil. If any ONE of these are wrong, there won't be spark.
