A friend recently gave me an old dearborn-detroit harvester 14-15 sickle bar mower that was used behind his granddad's TO20 to cut their hay. I want to put it behind my 135 but the toplink mount on the 135 seems to high. Were they higher on the 135 compared to the TO20? I didn't get a manual for the mowewr yet and am sure that will make it a lot clearer. Thanks T.J.

I have one of these mowers that I regularly use. I would say you are missing 4 critical parts. One is the hanger below the top link that the others have mentioned and the other two are the lift arm extentions. These lengthen the lift arms so the mower sets lower to the ground. The 4th part is the link ball that attaches under the right hand fender bracket. This is where the release bar attaches. If you do not have all of these parts, then the mower is not going to work correctly. You can get a free maunal for this mower at Link

I know I am missing some parts, I am probably going to look for another parts machine as well. The breakaway assembly is gone and was modified at some point, the top link seems to be right around where that drop bracket is on the picture of the gray ferguson. I was looking at the news letter site and am going to order a manual from them, thanks for the picture and thanks for all the tips, for now I think I will get started on the auxiliary drive stub for my crimper till I find another parts machine. Thanks again for the help guys, T.J.

On my TO-20 there was a fixed bracket attached below the top link attachment to the Draft control. This took the draft control out of the loop for a non-draft implement. See picture.

Perhaps this is why the top link seems short.

This mower uses a special top link that is not adjustable from the the look of things it is fairly rigid when it is mounted only the right side lift arm gets hooked up the other side uses a strut that goes to a special bracket on the axle. I am going to get a manual for it, the TO20 that it was used on is a few miles away now but I might call them up to see if I can compare them. Once I get a manual I am sure it will help me figure out the geometry a little easier. I am interested in this mower because its drive system is going to be easily adapted to have another PTO output to run my crimper behind it. T.J.

The top link has a lot of adjustment for length. That's to make the mower level when cutting. A difference between the heights of the top link connections on the tractor and on the implement will make the implement tip when raised. The geometry I last worked out showed that if the implement tower was lower than the tractor, the implement would lean back when raised and if the implement tower was taller than the tractor, the implement would lean forward when raised.

You should have no problem. I used to use a Ford 501 sicklebar mower on a MF 65 and it worked perfectly. Interchange between Ford and Ferguson 3 pt. implements, to my knowledge, always works.

T.J.

We used the same mower on the 800 Ford and a later Ford 2000 with 3 cyl. engine and a 4x2 tranny that we used on a TE20. It should fit if you have all the parts and peices.
