I have a massey 35 diesel. Is the clutch petal suppose to have stop to keep it from bottoming out on the foot rest? When I depress the clutch to stop the pto it will make a grinding noise if I push it down too far and it will actually bottom out on the footrest.I did notice there were some holes on the footrest that maybe something bolted to that would stop the clutch petal.

The clutch actually works fine.Except when you push it down through the 2nd stage to stop the pto it stops ok but if you keep pushing all the way until the petal bottoms out it starts making a clicking- knocking sound and the pto shaft actually kicks back in and starts turning. As long as you don't bottom the petal out it does not do this. Also it had a new clutch(both plates) put in about a year ago along with pilot and throw out bearings.

Respectfully, 135Fan is not correct on the holes you see. Those holes are for an optional clutch stop. This was a lever that would stop the clutch about 1" above the foot rest for live PTO operation. Thus you press the clutch to the stop shift gears and go and the PTO is never taken off-line.

This was used for front loader operation like when loading maneur. Drive into pile press clutch lift fork, reverse, clutch, drive to spreader clutch, dump, reverse, clutch, drive to pile... etc.

Those holes are probably for a bracket that locks the clutch pedal down. I think it's a good to lock the pedal down if the tractor will be sitting for a long time. Dave

they go to the bottom but if you got grinding sounds like your throw out bearing is gone
