I have a 150 and am concerened about the lift arms drifting down after turning off engine. They are fully down in less than one minute. I installed new rings in the lift cyl while I had the top cover off. The position control seems to work fine while running. I checked the pump pressure at PTO speed and control in constant pumping, getting 1800 psi.

This is a new to me tractor, which I have rebuilt and repainted. All is new except the main hyd pump and controls. I haven't yet attached any equipment to the 3-point system.

Thanks for any help, Tom

I have the opposite problem. My MF 240 lift arms won,t drift down at all. I weight about 240 lbs. and have to stand and jump on the lift arms to get them down. They will not drop with the motor on or off. Will drop it connected to something heavy like the disk or plow. Whats the problem. Otherwise the lift work fine. Need advise? Robert in Md.

There is a small steel tube that connects the hydraulic pump to the top cover. That tube has O-rings on both ends. It sounds like you may have a leak there.

Tom,

My experience with Massey Fergusons is that this is normal. My 135 dropped quickly while my 175 takes a few minutes. As long as they operate smoothly while running, consider this a parking brake assistant. You wouldn"t want to have a heavy implement suspended while the tractor was not being used for safety reasons.
