My memories of the super 90 are not that fond. It is a large old tractor made until the early to mid 60's . A large 4 cylinder perkins diesel. The nightmare begins with the power "assist" steering. This steering system had a mind of its own and on this particular tractor would steer one direction or the other no human could possibly stop it, or it was harder one way or the other. At any rate it was a good looking old tractor. They were heavily made but had a lift system unlike any other Massey Ferguson that I remember.Must have been around 68-75 hp. This steering problem was isolated to this 1 tractor I have heard of many people that like them very much Cecil Clark Holcolmb, Miss is Super 90 King (Cemar Tractor)

Mike:

I have a Super 90 and it is a super tractor. It has the Perkins 305 cu. in. diesel engine and is a very strong runner. The hydraulics are good, but not up to the level of the John Deeres of it's time. I have trouble with the power steering pump on it. Have had the pump rebuilt with short term success (matter of minutes) and bought a used one from a salvage yard which lasted about three months. Gonna have to break down and buy a new/rebuilt one from the dealer at about $700.00. The trouble is that this pump also powers the PTO clutch. So when you loose steering, you also loose PTO. Other than that one monumental headache, the tractor is the best starting and running diesel around. If you plan to do any pulling with it you better have some stout chain and implements. Mine has stretched all my log chains that are smaller than 1/2 inch and I once had to get a shovel and dig up the point from my subsoiler which the tractor had buried about two feet in the ground. It sheared off four 1/2 inch bolts and didn't even grunt when it did it.
