I would like to rewire my tractor. I want to remove the dash so I can access the back of the gages. I purchased a couple manuals on the tractor only to find out they dont tell me any thing about the dash or its components. Can some one please tell me how to get to the back of the dash. Does the dash come apart in two halves? Thanks Rip

Rip:

I removed the dash in one of my 35s about a year ago to replace a seal in the PS. It is a time consuming job that will be easier if you have a good complete set of 1/4" sockets with flex shafts, universal joints, etc.

You must first remove the steering wheel. The dash bolts to the battery box and to the steering gear. It will help to remove the battery.

The most tedious part is removing and reinstalling the connections to the various gauges.

If your tractor is a diesel, be very careful with the oil pressure switch that supplies power to the fuel gauge as these switches are no longer available.

Good luck.

Thanks you confirmed my fears. It appears as though the two dash halves are spot welded together. Even removing the dash it will need to be worked on through the bottom opening correct?

Rip:

Yes. The dash is a one-piece unit.

It is tedious to reinstall the various connections to the gauges with the dash in place but it can be done if you have patience, the right tools and your hands are not too large.
